Friday was the most popular day of the week for weddings last year.
23,173 couples tied the knot in 2022 - a 34 per cent increase on 2021 numbers.
CSO data shows July was the most popular month, while January had the fewest number of weddings last year.
Jess O'Sullivan is editor of wedding website, One Fab Day, and thinks couples are opting for Friday weddings to extend the celebrations across the weekend since the pandemic:
"I really think that that might be to do with the fact that a lot of people have been booking what we call 'revenge weddings'.
They went really really big on their wedding celebration; which could be a two or three day celebration.
So naturally if you're going for that kind of blow-out event, you're going to want to have your wedding on the Friday, maybe a big day two on the Saturday and then maybe a smaller family event on the Sunday.
So I'd imagine that's why the Fridays have proven so popular."
