No one can escape the cost of living crisis
Even the Toothfairy hasn't escaped the cost of living crisis.
New figures from the US to mark National Toothfairy Day next week, shows the price being paid out for lost teeth is at an all time high.
A single tooth now costs the fairy an average of $6.23 , the equivalent of €5.87.
It's a 16% increase on last year and a whopping 379% rise from 1998 when a single lost tooth set the Toothfairy back $1.30.
But what do tooth fairies do with the teeth they collect?
According to toothpaste brand Colgate these are some of the things the tooth fairy might do with them
- Send them up into the night sky to become stars
- Use as bricks for their white Tooth Fairy Castle
- They grind the teeth to make magical fairy dust for all the fairies
- Make necklaces for all the other fairies
Or perhaps it’s a secret so that the Tooth Fairy cannot tell us?
