A new study has shown people who use emojis in their messages have more sex.
Researchers at The Kinsey Institute surveyed more than 5,000 people in the US as part of their annual Singles In America paper. They found that around 30% of those surveyed said they regularly used emojis while talking to people they were dating.
Their study found a direct correlation between emojis and sex and researchers concluded that those who punctuate messages with emojis are more likely to have a second date, kiss their dates and have a higher number of sexual partners.
The study reads:
"Modern relationship-seekers must master faster and shorter methods of communicating self-disclosure and affect.
We find that the use of emojis allows daters to communicate important affective information to potential partners which facilitates successful intimate connection and more romantic and sexual opportunities."
They say the reason emoji-users have more sex is because when people meet face-to-face, we rely on more than just the words spoken to us, to develop relationships. We also rely on facial expressions and body language and emojis fill that gap.
