A new study using the Golden Ratio claims that the most beautiful dogs are Scottish breeds.
Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you have a Scottish bred dog, mathematically you have the 'most beautiful dog breed in the world.'
The study complied images if the 138 most popular dog breeds to analyse their measurements.
Measurements like:
- the space between their eyes
- their snout length
- the space between their ears
- the length of the dog's head
- and the space between the top of the head and the eyes were all considered.
According to The National the similarity of each dog breed's proportions to the Golden Ratio was then calculated as a percentage.
In first place as the 'most beautiful' dog is the Cairn Terrier with a score of 88.7%.
Next on the list was the West Highland White Terrier, known as a Westie. Scoring 87.5% on the Golden Ratio.
Third on the list, with a score of 86.7%, was the Border Collie.
At the other end of the ranking, the calculations named the Shih Tzu as the least beautiful dog, with a score of 41%.
Bullmastiffs came second last on 48.7%, and French Bulldogs next with a score of 54.3%.
The study was conducted by a financial advice website money.co.uk
And although your dog may not be top of the list the website assures us that "regardless of the ranking position of a dog’s breed, every dog no matter its shape or size should be appreciated."
And the best way to do that is to make sure your furry friend is "fully insured so that any unforeseen expenses can be easily taken care of, allowing you and your pets to enjoy your time together without worry.”
