We swear it feels like more...

Why does it feel like every time we look at our wash basket it's full?

Some days it feels we load and take out a wash, hang it out and literally have to do it all again the next day.

We know that's not the case but boy does it feel like it.

A survey has found that on average we will do 13,000 loads of washing in our lifetime.

It also found that the average washing machine goes through 4 loads each week.

Apparently, even though we wash clothes so many times, we still make the odd msitake.

The poll found that we'll ruin an average of 95 items of clothing in our lifetime.

Which we all know can be done by washing whites with coloured items or perhaps having the setting on too hot.

The survey found that nearly half (42 per cent) of us don’t think about the environmental impact washing our clothes has.

This means that at times we maybe don't put on a full load, or washing at too high a temperature.

When it comes to separating whites and colours, not everyone does it.

68 per cent of people always separate, while 29 per cent admit they throw it all in the same wash together.

And 51 per cent have accidentally put a coloured item into a whitewash, according to swns digital.

Here's some other "laundry disasters":

  • Putting a tissue through the wash (55 per cent)
  • Shrinking an item (35 per cent)
  • Leaving money in pockets (14 per cent).

Washing detergent company Ariel commissioned the survey of 2,000 UK adults.
