One in five people don't know how to make beans on toast

Heinz is releasing a step-by-step guide on how to make beans on toast because one in five people don't know how to.

A staple in a student household, almost half of people (43%) eat baked beans at least once a month.

People have been storing, cooking and serving up their beans all wrong.

The food giant says despite it being a simple dish, 20% of people had never made the meal and were unsure how to do it.

Heinz enlisted the help of etiquette expert William Hanson to demonstrate how to make beans on toast.

The five-point recipe says you should:

• put bread in the toaster
• then shake the tin of beans and open
• heat them but don't boil
• put butter on the toast
• and then pour the beans over it
