As I Am Autism Charity group is spreading the message of calmness this year.

Christmas brings happiness to people the world over for so many reasons.
The food, the presents, spending time with family and of course the decorations, lights and the festive cheer.
But for those among us with Autism, December can be a nightmare...bringing with it a sensory overload of loud sounds, sights and smells.
As of right now, the way in which Christmas is celebrated in Ireland completely overlooks this very important section of our society.
That's why we've teamed up with the As I Am Autism Charity group to spread the message of calm this Christmas.
This festive season, we want to raise awareness of the difficulties that autistic people face at Christmas time by creating a call-to-arms for people and businesses around the country to be more aware and help provide safe spaces for them.
The All Is Calm campaign encourages people to slow their celebrations down for just one hour, turn down the music, dim the lights, and create a calmer, more autism-friendly environment amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

How you can help.

You can join the calmness crusade by hosting your own #alliscalm Coffee Morning that both helps raise funds for As I Am, and provides a much-needed moment of calm during the holiday season.
All you need to provide is a quiet room with dim lights, low music, along with a few volunteers or a host to ensure everything runs smoothly and most importantly - calmly.
If you want to get involved in #alliscalm this Christmas you can sign up here and receive a resource pack and other campaign materials to help you set things up.
