Those who break Airbnb's rules will face "serious consequences"
The short stay platform Airbnb is set to make its temporary ban on parties permanent.
The home-rental service first brought in the temporary ban in April 2020.
More than 6,600 guests and some hosts were suspended from the site in 2021 for attempting to violate the party ban.
Previously, Airbnb allowed its hosts to authorise parties if they deemed it appropriate for their home and neighbourhood.
In late 2019 the company tightened its rules to stop "chronic party houses" which led to neighbourhood nuisances.
Helping to make the decision, Airbnb launched its Neighbourhood Support Line in the UK and Ireland.
This was a way for neighbours to communicate any concerns they had.
The temporary ban was first introduced during the emergency of the Covid pandemic.
Since the temporary ban, the company have reported a 44% drop in the rate of complaints from hosts.
In a statement, Airbnb said: "This was concerning to us due to both the disruptive nature of unauthorised parties and the risk of such gatherings spreading the virus,"
"As such, we announced the party ban to our community as being in the best interest of public health."
Since the pandemic, the ban has become more than a public health measure and has developed into a way to support their hosts and their neighbours.
The policy includes "serious consequences" for guests who attempt to violate the rules.
If you break the rules you could face account suspension to full removal from the Airbnb platform.
The platform has also announced the removal of its 16-person limit, allowing larger homes to be booked to full occupancy.
