It's our bread and butter and funds our lives outside of work, but just how much time are we spending working?
New figures show that Irish men now work for an average of 40,1 years in their lifetime.
The research from Eurostat uncover that Irish women spend an average of 33.1 years at work.
Taking these figures and comparing them to figures gathered in the year 2,000, this shows us that Irish people are now working for an extra 3.5 years in the workplace in their lifetime.
Grace Bolton of the EU Commission office in Dublin explained that this average increase is propelled by a dramatic increase in the number of years Irish women are spending in the workforce compared to 2000.
