Are you guilty of it too?

How annoying is it when you're out with friends or family and they spend most of their time looking down at their phones instead of talking to you?

A restaurant chain in the U.K. are offering customers free meals for their children...

...if the whole family agree to hand over their phones.

Would you be willing?

Frankie and Benny's said said the initiative is to help "celebrate family time".

This is part of their "No Phone Campaign", that wants to champion family time without the distraction and interruption of phones.

It runs from November 29th-December 7th and seems to have a received a largely positive reaction online.

If diners opt-in and participate, they'll be offered a free kids meal as an incentive.

Frankie and Benny's says kids will eat for free this week if they hand their mobiles in to staff at the door. It's an effort to promote family time, the chain says - but will it work, and should it be extended? Get in touch and let us know what you think

A spokesperson for the company said "Our staff are actively encouraging customers and families to take part in the campaign, but of course, we can't force them to hand over their phones".

“If the initiative is a success we'll certainly be looking at ways to activate it on a more permanent basis.”

“We've found giving families the chance to part with their devices for a mere couple of hours is a great way to bring them closer and embrace family time”.

Do you think more restaurants should implement initiatives like this?
