The new update from WhatsApp will help curb the spread of rumours.
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will limit the amount of times a message can be forwarded.
The social media app will cap the number of times you can forward a message to five. It's in a bid to fight “misinformation and rumors”, according to Reuters.
"We're imposing a limit of five messages all over the world as of today," said Victoria Grand, Vice President for policy and communications at WhatsApp, at an event in Indonesia.
Before now, WhatsApp users could forward a message to 20 individual or group chats. The five time limit was already tested in India to halt the spread of rumours on social media.
WhatsApp has around 1.5 billion users worldwide and have been figuring ways to stop people misusing the app.
The new update is already being rolled out across the world. Android users will get the update first, followed by Apple iOS users.
