In a move nobody saw coming, Megan is about to cause ructions in the villa as, having moved on from her relationship with Eyal, she confesses all about her attraction to Wes.
With Wes admitting he is having doubts about his future with Laura, how will Laura react when she learns she has an unexpected rival bidding for Wes’ affections?
Megan decides to call things quits with Eyal, having questioned their lack of connection. Speaking to the Beach Hut, Megan says:
“I want to find someone that I really, really click with and it’s horrible when you see other couples having a laugh and getting on and you think ‘I just want that’.”
Explaining her change of heart to Eyal, Megan reveals:
“I just feel like from the beginning I’ve always worried that it’s more of a physical/sexual attraction, and then earlier when you were like ‘we should have more fun.’ Obviously it crossed my mind and I had thought about it. I don’t want to force it and I just think it’s so early to have to force it. I’m into you but it’s more of a physical thing don’t you think? After we’ve done stuff there’s not much to say or do. It just rung alarm bells when Sam and Samira were having more of a laugh in bed than we were.”
Eyal in turn voices his frustrations to the remainder of the group:
“I’m raging a little bit, because obviously I put effort into it and I don’t think it should be disregarded that quickly. That’s what frustrates me. Yeah, there might be elements missing from our relationship but we can try and work to at least see if they’re there, you know.”
Resigning himself to the inevitable, he then informs the Beach Hut:
“I feel like her mind is made up and I’m not going to try anymore. I’m not here to force someone to like me or to be into me or to like the things about me that I’d like someone to like.”
Megan reflects on the situation with Samira, and when Wes joins the conversation, he offers her some reassurance:
“We’ve come on here to find the person who’s right for us, whether it’s someone that we instantly click with, whether it’s someone we grow to like, does that matter? Absolutely not. It’s got to be someone that you genuinely like but it can’t be just someone who you find the fittest. If someone comes in, or I grow to someone in here, if I grow to like them more than Laura, it’s not me speaking badly of Laura, it’s me understanding what’s right for me.”
Having already earmarked Wes as a person she gets on better with, Megan discusses their friendship in the Beach Hut:
“I really get on with Wes. I feel like out of all the boys, he’s someone I really can talk to. I feel like I can be really geeky and silly in front of him. I can just be myself.”
As she talks further about Wes, Megan hints that her feelings may be stronger than she first suggested:
“I never, ever saw him in that way but you know when you’re just around someone for a long time, there’s things about him that I think are attractive.”
Later that day, a game of Snog, Marry, Pie gives Megan the opportunity to test the waters with Wes. Each Islander is one by one asked to choose one member of the opposite sex to marry, one to snog (in full view of the Islanders) and one to pie in the face.
In a jaw-dropping move, Megan opts to kiss Wes, which prompts a positive reaction from Wes in the Beach Hut:
“I had no problems with it, because she’s fit. She kissed me, at the end of the day, it’s a laugh, it’s a game.”
Wes then kisses Megan when the boys line up to have their turn.
Approaching Wes on the terrace, Megan then outlines how she has been feeling:
“So this is obviously really awkward for me. I’m quite an awkward person. I think it’s pretty obvious that I do really fancy you and I just felt like if I didn’t say something I’d regret it massively. I didn’t know if it was just on a friend level, but more and more I do really find you attractive and I can’t help it. I don’t want to tread on Laura’s toes and she’s a lovely girl, but from an outside point of view I feel like she’s a lot older and she said earlier she’s in here looking for a husband. To me you’re 20, you’re so much fun and I just wanted to know where your head was at.”
To Megan’s relief, Wes does not instantly dismiss her proposition, as he gives an overview of his relationship with Laura:
“It’s just a constant cycle of ‘we’re happy’ but have I tried anything else? Not really. Could I be happier? Maybe. I do fancy her and I’m happy with what we’ve got. I’ve not talked to anyone on a romantic level in this entire villa.”
Just days after their ‘Doing Bits’ confession, Wes and Laura’s relationship is in trouble, as Wes seizes a moment to speak to Laura about his attraction to Megan.
Skirting around the subject, Wes begins:
“So basically, today people have been saying I’ve been off, I’ve been distant, I’ve been not fully affectionate. What I’m saying is, I’m being honest with myself and today I just took time to reflect on what we have and what I feel like in a sense and I feel something’s missing.”
Mustering the courage to disclose the reasons for his change of heart, Wes continues:
“Essentially what I’m saying is there’s a particular person in the villa…”
