Sligo, the small county that packs a massive punch!

For those who live and work in Sligo, the following adoring list will come as no surprise whatsoever...

But for those who are yet to indulge in everything Sligo has to offer, this is your chance to organise a long overdue weekend in the the yeats county!

It was extremely tough, but we manged to create a list of just five things you need to do upon your future arrival in Sligo.

Why? Because we're just sound like that.

So, without further delay, here they are!

1.  You can bask in ‘Ireland’s best seaside surf village’

Move over Salthill and Bundoran... There's a new seaside village in town!

Strandhill is finally getting the nationwide recognition it deserves!

A day out at Strandhill is simply a must for any visitor to Sligo.

Our to-do list includes: A coffee at Shells, a climb to the top of the sand-dune then run down into Shelley Valley, a visit the Strandhill People’s Market, a walk the Killaspugbrone loop, all topped off with a lovely sunset on the prom.

Does it get any better than that?

2. You can catch some waves

Not only is Sligo's coast line one of those beautiful ones you can take in with your eyes, it's one you can tackle with your surf board!

All year round you'll see some of the keenest surfers in Ireland catching some waves at the famous Strandhill.

As well as more beginner level surf breaks like Streedagh or Dunmoran Strand.

Sligo is a mecca for surf lovers!

3. You can treat your ears to some amazing trad music

No matter what night of the week it is in Sligo, you can feast your ears on some amazing Trad music!

Find nightly traditional music sessions in pubs like McGarrigles, McGlynns, Shoot the Crows, and O’Connors in Ballisodare.

4. You can get a job (Because why would you want to leave?)

Like many places in Ireland, Sligo's is booming and open for business! This is typified by the fact that Eir has just announced 350 customer services new jobs this morning.

1,150 new jobs have been announced in Sligo since January 2018, created by the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and private companies. Companies such as Eir, Abtran, Phibro, E3 Retail, Live Tiles and Abbott Ireland have all chosen Sligo for investment.

Fine Gael T.D. for Sligo - Leitrim and Assistant Government Whip, Tony McLoughlin said "this is a major boost for our town and the region in general and this illuminates the quality we have on offer in Sligo and the attractiveness for investment on offer."

“As a TD who on a weekly basis raised the issue of job creation for Sligo the Dail and who banged on the table about the lack of delivery in the past, I am delighted with today’s news and I fully expect there to be even more jobs announcements for Sligo and the region in the coming months and years”

5. You can stuff your face with delicious food

Sligo’s food scene has exploded in recent years!

And with the perfect mix of casual dining, along with great local and seasonal product, it's not hard to see why.

In fact Sligo ranks in one of Ireland’s Top 10 Foodie Towns!

There's absolutely no shortage of culinary delights in our beloved Sligo.
