Looks like Micheal D. won't be eating hot dogs any time soon...
The Phoenix Park has permanently banned barbeques over the amount of littering and fire damage that's happening.
There had been a ban but it was lifted in 2010. Back then, a parks spokesperson said:
"Up to now there had been a blanket ban because of fears of fires and health and safety issues.
Due to the enormous pressure brought on by the current good weather and unprecedented numbers of people using the park, we are allowing disposable barbecues to be used near picnic tables.
We do not allow barbecues on the tables or on grass. We are currently reviewing our policy on barbecues."
There's been outrage over the renewed restriction on barbeques.
Green Party councillor Ciarán Cuffe says he feels that park authorities shouldn't ban the items outright:
"I would acknowledge that there are some difficulties with tables being burnt with disposable barbecues, but I think we should work with those who barbecue.
If you go to any other city around that world, parks have places to barbecue."
Other unusual rules of the Phoenix Park include a ban on "annoying or interfering with any other person enjoying the Park", and fishing in any pond in the park grounds.
