As the country braces itself for the arrival of the tail end of ex-Hurricane Helene, Met Éireann has issued a yellow rainfall warning for Galway and Mayo.
25-40mm of rainfall is expected to fall between midday and midnight tonight in these parts.
These rainfall warnings may be extended, with a risk of flooding in parts.
On their website, Met Éireann say that rain will be persistent and often heavy today in parts of Connacht and west Ulster.
The rest of the country can expect cloudy conditions with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, with some spells of brightness and sunshine.
Gusty conditions are expected this afternoon.
