It's a nice day for a white wedding...
Ireland shut up shop during Storm Emma.
With a status red weather warning in place, people were confined to indoors and life literally came to a standstill.
Many couples who were due to tie the knot postponed their weddings, but a handful bravely went ahead with their ceremonies, with a little help from kind friends, family, neighbours and strangers.
Sandra and Shane Ryan from Tullamore thought their big day in the Annebrooke House Hotel in Mullingar couldn't go ahead as their celebrant was snowed in.
As well as that slightly minor detail, the bride's hairdresser couldn't travel due to the treacherous conditions.
However, staff at the Annebrooke House Hotel pulled together and an alternative celebrant was found who was transported to the venue by tractor. The hairdresser was also rescued by Managing Director Berty Dunne.
Sandra and Shane's winter wonderland wedding resulted in super fun photos, with the bride wearing wellies and the groom brandishing a shovel!
Bernadette Doherty and John Phelan were due to marry in Naas registry office but their ceremony was cancelled because of the bad weather.
The couple who live in Leixlip thought they had to let the day go by unmarked but their neighbour Katie Hand had other ideas.
Katie’s husband Will along with John built a magical snow chapel in the back garden, which Katie and Bernadette decorated with lights and candles.
The guests were called and they turned up dressed for the occasion. Bernadette and John then exchanged vows in the garden before dining on a wedding feast, which was a combination of food from the neighbours' houses.
These heartwarming acts of kindness helped us get through Storm Emma and truly make us proud to be Irish!
