Boil them, mash them, bake them, sauté them...there's not much you can't do with the humble potato.
The vegetable is so popular here that it has its own day - National Potato Day.
The annual celebration honours the spud, which is the world's third most important crop, and encourages us to recognise its nutritional value.

Bord Bia says potatoes are a natural, unprocessed food which are fat-free, gluten-free, packed full of fibre and a source of potassium.
We're being encouraged to put spuds back on our plates by experimenting with new and exciting recipes.
The potato.ie website has more than 140 potato recipes.
Garry and Fionnuala spoke to Aoife Hearne, Operation Transformation's registered dietitian, about the best way to eat your spuds:
"The most important thing is to keep the skin on because we want people getting more fibre into their day."
"And we see in general that people are not actually eating enough fibre. Our fibre intake is reducing year on year."
"And when we look at all the studies now that are coming out about how important our gut is, eating fibre is essential to keep that healthy."
Aoife also revealed which variety of potato is top of the crops. Listen to the full interview below:
