The social media giant has apologised to its 336 million users.
Twitter users are being advised to change their passwords.
It's after a bug was discovered that stored some passwords in plain text on Twitter's internal computer system.
The company says the problem is now fixed and there's no indication that passwords were stolen.
We recently found a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log. We fixed the bug and have no indication of a breach or misuse by anyone. As a precaution, consider changing your password on all services where you’ve used this password. https://t.co/RyEDvQOTaZ
