Yvette Short's whippet Collooney Tartan Tease had just been announced as the overall winner at the canine show in Birmingham when a protester stormed the arena.

It turns out the demonstrator was with animal rights group Peta but Yvette from Scotland wasn't taking any chances - she grabbed Collooney Tartan Tease and legged it.

The invader, who had been holding a placard reading ‘Crufts canine eugenics’, was wrestled to the ground within seconds.
Peta say they organised the protest to raise awareness of ‘unnatural breeding’.
