Updated - A Status Yellow Wind Warning has been issued for ALL Counties.
A Status yellow wind warning will come into effect from Wednesday morning at 5 am and will be valid until 5 pm Wednesday evening.
This comes as a result of Ireland receiving the Tail-end of hurricane Helene.
Monday 17th September -
This morning we reported that a yellow rainfall warning is in place for Galway and Mayo, but this has now been extended.
5 counties, (Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo), can expect 25-40mm of rainfall to fall between midday and midnight tonight in these parts.
Local flooding is also possible.
On their website, Met Éireann say that rain will be persistent and often heavy today in parts of Connacht and west Ulster.
The rest of the country can expect cloudy conditions with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, with some spells of brightness and sunshine.
Gusty conditions are expected this afternoon.
On their website, Met Éireann yesterday released a statement on Storm Helene.
They wrote, "On Monday night, ex tropical storm Helene will track northeastwards close to the southeast of Ireland. Current forecasts indicate that south to southeast winds will reach gale or strong gale force over the Celtic Sea and Irish Sea, but will be fresh to strong over land. However, it is possible that yellow level warning criteria may be reached in counties Cork, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Meath and Louth. Suitable warnings will be issued if necessary."
