Met Eireann have two weather warnings in place this afternoon, one National Status Yellow warning and one Status Orange gale warning.
The wind warning is in place for Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Galway, as storm Aileen arrives.
Elsewhere, a rainfall warning in in effect for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Rain will become widespread this evening, with risks of both thunder and spot flooding.
In southwestern, southern and later eastern counties, wind speeds of around 110km/h are expected.
It's predicted heavy rain will become showers tonight, with overnight temperatures of 8 or 9 degrees.
