Pets around the country are vying for the title of the Nose of Tralee.

The Rose of Tralee's animal counterpart is an annual competition run by Pet Sitters Ireland.

Now in its fifth year, the Nose of Tralee is open to all types of pets, big and small.

Judges have selected the 32 finalists, one from each county, and voting is now open to the public.

There's a big prize up for grabs - a  200 pet sitting and dog walking voucher, a photo shoot, a painting of your pet by Irish Artist Gill O’Shea, and a one month supply of pet food.

Here's some of the furry finalists:

The Galway Nose is Mattie.

The West Highland Terrier's owner says he would bring a certain level of maturity to the role at the grand old age of 15.

He's a sociable chap and a great listener. His hobbies include eating, sleeping, barking at tractors, and weeing at least 50 times when out for a walk.

Captain is the Westmeath Nose.

The Golden Retriever is a bit of a romantic as he helped his owner's fiance propose by carrying the engagement ring.

The Tipperary Nose is Chewie.

His owners say he acts like an older brother to their daughter by being her constant companion.

They claim he's the only cat you will see opening the door to let himself in and out of the house - they just wish he would learn to close it.

Benjamin Budgie is the Clare Nose.

The six year old loves to sit on people's hands, take long baths, sing, and perform aerial dancing.

He's been with his girlfriend, Dorcas, for over a year.

When asked what's the secret to a good relationship, Benjamin replied: "It's really quite simple - you need to build trust, understanding, and find tasty food to regurgitate into each other's mouths."

The winner will be announced live on the Pet Sitters Ireland Facebook page on August 21st.
