We wonder do the footballers know they're playing on turf?!

The Republic of Ireland might not be at the World Cup in Russia but there's a little bit of Ireland on the pitch - literally.

A company in the North West designed, constructed and installed 6 of the 12 pitches being used for the tournament, including the pitch at the Luzhniki Stadium.

SIS Pitches, based in Sligo, has created the most technologically advanced pitches in World Cup history.

The global pitch specialists use a reinforced natural turf system called SISGrass. We kid you not!

It's the first time a World Cup Final has ever been played on anything but all-natural grass.
