Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring has said that a road project in County Mayo will will go to tender.
Mayo is set to receive a huge €170 million infrastructure boost by way of a new road, The Connaught Telegraph is reporting.
Taking to Twitter, Ring said "I am proud to announce that the N5 Wesport-Turlough road is going to tender. This €170M Govt investment is one of the most significant projects in the West in a generation and is a game changer for Mayo.I have fought for this for 20 years and look forward to the benefits for all".
The new road from Westport to Turlough has been long awaited by road users.

According to the Connaught Telegraph, land, construction and all other costs are included in the investent in the approximate €170 million project.
It had been hoped that construction would begin in 2016.
