Not for the first time, The Simpsons predicted the future! As we wake up this morning to the news that Donald Trump is the 45th President of the United States of America, The Simpsons warned us it would happen back in the year 2000.
The episode was ‘Bart to the Future’, which aired in March 2000. Lisa takes the top job and says: ‘We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump’.. watch it below. The Simpsons creator Matt Groening told The Guardian: ‘We predicted that he would be president back in 2000 – but [Trump] was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.’
