Gardaí in North Leitrim channelled ''their inner Cowboys'' to save Seven Cows from the N16

When Seven-Cows in North Leitrim wandered onto the main Sligo to Donegal Road on Sunday night, Gardai were forced into action, before any of them were hurt.

As described in a statement on the Facebook page of Garda Siochána Sligo/Leitrim:

“Gardaí in North Leitrim were required to channel their inner Cowboys to take SEVEN wandering black cows off the N16, the main Sligo to Donegal Road.”

“Luckily, none of these animals were hit by passing traffic.”

They also urged animal owners to lock their gates at night, in order to avoid such heroic rescues.

The Gardaí described the incident as ‘The Great Escape - Leitrim Style.'

Clearly more trilling the the actual 'Great Escape' which took place in 1944 during WW2, when Allied prisoners of war escaped from an enemy prison camp.
