You'll be wined and dined if you're a diplomat visiting Ireland.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has built up an extensive wine collection from around the world to treat visiting dignitaries.
According to the Irish Examiner, the wines held in a cellar in Iveagh House range in price from a €8.48 Italian red to a French bottle costing 75 quid.
The paper says the Department purchased 850 bottles of wine in 2017 at an average cost of €11.44 per bottle.
Last year, it hosted 178 events “to advance Ireland’s political and economic interests, further reconciliation and co-operation on this island and advance Ireland’s values and priorities”.
Who knew good wine played a key part in Irish diplomacy?!
