These will scare your friends senseless.

Coming up with an original Halloween costume can be challenging and time-consuming, so it may be tempting to buy a pair of cat ears and call it a day.

However, the easiest place to find inspiration is horror movies.

After all, scary films and Halloween go hand in hand.

We've rounded up the five best movie-inspired Halloween costumes.

These creepy characters are sure to impress everyone on All Hallows' Eve.

The Nun

This will undoubtedly be 2018's most popular costume but we had to include it.

Demonic nun certainly makes a change from sexy nun and it's a pretty easy one to put together.

The Babadook

The Babadook, possibly the most terrifying children's book character of all time, is another simple costume idea.

All you need is a black coat, black gloves, a black hat, and black and white face paint.

Billy the puppet from the Saw franchise

Dressing up as Jigsaw's little friend involves a three-piece suit, a red bow tie, a wig, and pretty decent makeup skills.

The tricycle is optional!

Georgie from It

Last year, everyone dressed up as Pennywise the Dancing Clown after Bill Skarsgard frightened the bejaysus out of us in the remake of It.

However, Georgie is a far more clever costume.

Simply wear a yellow raincoat, wellies and don't forget the red balloon.

Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise

This iconic costume will be well-timed as the reboot of the original Halloween is out in cinemas this month.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle have reunited 40 years after the slasher movie first hit screens.

If you love all things horror and Halloween, you can catch two creepy films at a drive-in cinema in Galway.
