It's the rarest of hair colours, accounting for only 0.6% of the world's population, so we in Ireland are spoiled to be surrounded by many fiery red heads of hair.
You might think today is just like any other November Day, but we must correct this misconception immedietely - today is not just a mere Monday in November. It is National Love Your Red Hair Day.
The idea of the national day is to empower men and women with red hair, and to encourage them to accept and embrace their individuality.
How did the day come about?
Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti are sisters, best friends, natural-born redheads and co-founders of HowtobeaRedhead.com, and author’s of the popular “How to be a Redhead” book and reportedly wanted to create their own event to spread a positive message, after noticing a rise in hateful days like “Kick a Ginger Day”.
"it’s a reminder for women everywhere, redhead or not, to love their unique qualities", they wrote on their website.
It seems there is a National Day for everything and anything these days, but we do think this one should be fully celebrated - it's all about loving your uniqueness and individuality, and we're all for that.
