Working 9 to 5...and then some

Employees of certain companies in Sweden must go to the gym weekly.

Workers are being forced to complete on-the-job exercise in a bid to boost productivity.

Among the firms is water company Kalmar Vatten, construction consultancy firm Rotpartner and giant fashion and sportswear retailer Bjorn Borg.

Every Friday, employees of Bjorn Borg must leave their desks at the HQ in Stockholm to work out at a nearby gym.

There's no opting out - for more than two years the retailer has made on-the-job exercise mandatory.

Chief executive Henrik Bunge has said: "If you don't want to exercise or be a part of the company culture, you have to go."

Surprisingly, no one has quit because of the requirement!

The main aims of the policy are to improve productivity and profitability, while fostering camaraderie in the work force.

Would you like compulsory exercise introduced into your workplace?!
