One student's dedication to get to work after his car broke down has resulted in a feel-good story that has touched many worldwide.
Walter Carr was due to start his new job at a moving company, but ended up walking for over 8 hours to ensure he got there for his start-time after his car broke down.
He began his trek at at midnight from Homewood, Alabama and was reportedly picked up by police at approminately 4am.
When police heard his plight, they brought him for breakfast. They then gave him a lift to the home of the family he was due to start work at that morning.
He arrived at the home of Jenny Hayden Lamey before the other movers arrived, and was offered a rest. He declined the offer and began working.
Jenny took to Facebook to share Walter's story, and it quickly went viral.
She said "I just can’t tell you how touched I was by Walter and his journey. He is humble and kind and cheerful and he had big dreams! He is hardworking and tough. I can’t imagine how many times on that lonely walk down 280 in the middle of the night did he want to turn back. How many times did he wonder if this was the best idea. How many times did he want to find a place to sit or lie down and wait til morning when he could maybe get someone to come pick him up and bring him back home. But he walked until he got here! I am in total awe of this young man!"
Word eventually got back to the CEO of the moving company he worked for, Luke Marklin.
This is an incredible story. The grit and heart Walter showed defines Bellhops' culture precisely. I'm really proud to be on the same team as Walter... we set a high bar on service and he just raised it. Look forward to thanking him in person this week. https://t.co/Fr4ytu5CM1

The CEO took it a step further, and gifted the student with a car. The video has been viewed over 60,000 times at the time of writing this.
One Youtuber wrote "A car is a life changer in America. He can now get to work faster, get to school, and any other activities. I hope he keeps up the good work and keeps pushing forward letting nothing hold him back.", while another noted "The gift is inspiring but the dedication it takes to make that walk is awesome. Makes me regret the complaining I used to do to take the bus 3 hours for work"
We're not suggesting for a second that you should ever sacrafice sleep and your health to walk long distances to work, but his drive has impressed us all.
