Sniffer dog James helps seize €220K worth of drugs at Dublin Port

The drugs were concealed in a consignment said to contain flat pack tables.

A detector dog named James helped Revenue officers find 11kgs of herbal cannabis at Dublin Port yesterday.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €220,000 and were discovered in a consignment said to contain "flat pack tables", which had arrived into the port.

Separately on Thursday, Revenue officers seized 11,600 unstamped cigarettes and 5kgs of unstamped tobacco in the capital.

During a joint operation targeting the illicit tobacco trade in the Moore Street area, the products were seized after searches at a number of premises in the Dublin 1 and Dublin 7 areas.

The seized tobacco products have a total retail value of over €6,500.
