Saoirse Ronan won the Best Actress award in the music and comedy catergory at the Golden Globes held in Beverly Hills last night.
Saoirse received the award for her preformance in the film "Lady Bird". This wasnt the only success for the film as it also won Best Picture in the music and comedy catergory.
There was more Irish joy last night as it was a night to remember for filmmarker Martin McDonagh. His film "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" won four awards last night including Best Motion Picture - Drama.
Another big name to receive an award last night was Oprah Winfrey. Oprah won the honorary Cecil B DeMille trophy, becoming the first black women to win the award.
The big talking point from the night was the #TimesUp campaign. All actors and actress wore black last night. This was to encourage bringing about change for women not only in the entertainment industry but also around the world, after recent sexual harassment scandals.
