After being refused entry by both Italy and Malta, rescue ship Aquarius has finally docked in Spain.
Pregnant women and children are among hundreds of migrants being seen by crisis workers in Spain.
The group, who were found drifting in rubber dinghies off Lybia last Sunday, spent a week at sea because of rows about which country should take them in after authorities in Malta and Italy refused entry to the Italian rescue ship.
The Italian coast guard vessel Dattilo arrived in the Spanish port just before 7am local time this morning, and was followed by the Aquarius migrant rescue vessel more than two hours later. The hundreds of migrants aboard were heard cheering, chanting and singing as they docked.
Staff and volunteers from both the Spanish Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies are in Valencia city port ready to assist the migrants.
