A study has found two-fifths of people have fake first memories.
Researchers in City, University of London have conducted one of the largest surveys of early memories.
They discovered almost 40 per cent of participants have memories from the age of two or younger.
However, this is impossible as previous studies suggest memories don't properly form until we're around three-and-a-half years old.
The academics said these memories might actually be a combination of fragments from various early experiences.
Researchers found the "recollections" particularly coomon amongst middle-aged people and older adults.
