New Zealand's acting Prime Minister said "all over the world people are confused."
A fight has broken out between two nations in the Southern Hemisphere over their flags.
Winston Peters, who has stepped in as PM of New Zealand while Jacinda Ardern is on maternity leave, is claiming that Australia stole New Zealand's flag design.
The neighbours' flags are both dark blue with the Union Jack in the top left corner.
However, New Zealand's flag has four red stars while Australia's has six white stars.
Mr Peters hit out at Australia this week, demanding that the country adopt a different design:
"We got there first with this design. We designed it and they borrowed it and if we wanted to clear the matter up they should change their flag."
"It must be patently obvious that all over the world people are confused. I've been in places like Turkey and elsewhere where they've confused our countries on the basis of those flags. It's not helpful."
Both Australia and New Zealand have been using similar flags since the late 1800s.
However, Australia's wasn't officially recognised until 1954 while New Zealand adopted its flag in 1902.
