A British man has spent the last 13 months running across America.

Rob Pope from Liverpool ran more than 25,000 kilometres to recreate Forrest Gump's run. That's approximately 59 kilometres every day for 422 days!

The 39 year old ran from Alabama to California, to Maine to Oregon, to South Carolina and on to Monument Valley.

Speaking to Bored Panda, he said:

"I first had the idea to run across America 15 years ago. I’d had a number of half-hearted attempts trying to put a run together, but after watching Forrest Gump one night, I had a light-bulb moment."

Rob didn't sprint across the States because he loves running or is a Forrest Gump super fan - no, he took on the challenge to raise money for charity.

He's raised over £32,000 for the World Wildlife Fund and Peace Direct, which supports peacebuilders in areas of conflict.

As well as recreating the mammoth run in the iconic movie, Rob ran the London Marathon dressed as Tom Hanks’ character.

This landed him the world record for the fastest runner dressed as a film character by completing the marathon in just 2:36:28.

As soon as he finished his US run, he proposed to his girlfriend, Nadine.

"I'm pretty tired. Think I'll go home now."
