According to the latest figures from the Courts Service, Louth has one of the highest divorce rates in the country.
It joins Clare, Tipperary and Dublin in the high ranks, with Carlow having the highest divorce rate in the country.
More than 4,100 couples here applied to divorce in 2016.
Counties with the lowest rates included Leitrim, Kilkenny and Monaghan.
Judicial separation was most common in Co. Cavan, Cork and Kerry.
As it stands, couples need to have been separated for 4 years before they can apply for divorce, but that may be changing soon, with a 2019 referendum planned that could change that to two years.
