A painting called Salvator Mundi (Saviour of the World), has been sold for over $450 million.
Salvator Mundi was apparently painted by Leonardo Da Vinci over 500 years ago. Da Vinci painted it for the king of France between 1506 and 1513.
The painting was sold in 1956 for only £45 but has now been sold for $450 million to an anonymous buyer.
The auctioneer for this painting was Jussi Pylkkanen. The bidding lasted for over 20 minutes over telephone calls.
At one point the bidding jumped from $370 million to $400 million. The entire saleroom erupted with excitement. “Four hundred million selling here at Christie’s. The piece is sold!
The AO Show's very own Oonagh O'Carroll has artwork featuring herself and the luckiest man. We wonder how much money this painting would make at an auction?!
