We're talking a whole inch off the size of our chips.

Wouldn't you know it...the sun comes out for a few months in Ireland and what happens?

We lose an inch off the length of our chips.

It's emerged that due to last year's prolonged period of sun and lack of rain, there was a reduction in the size of potatoes being produced.

And according to The Climate Coalition – a group in the UK consisting of more than 100 organisations and charities including Oxfam and the RSPB – the length of our favourite fried treat has shrunk by as much as an inch because of the impacts of unpredictable weather and climate change.

So now climate change is effecting the size of one of our favourite delicacies?

This just won't do. Someone's got to save our spuds.
