No more long off-license queues on Holy Thursday!
Interlude:
The Dáil has just passed legislation which will end the Good Friday ban on alcohol sales. Having already been passed by Seanad, it now goes to the Áras to be signed into law next week and take immediate effect.— Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly) January 25, 2018
The longstanding ban on selling alcohol on Good Friday has been abolished in the Dáil today.
The prohibition has been in effect for 90 years.
This means that pubs can open and sell alcohol from this Good Friday.
