The pre-Christmas shopping trip to Dublin on the 8th of December seems to be a dying tradition.
According to Dublin Chamber of Commerce, yesterday was only as busy as any other Saturday in the run-up to Christmas.
Head of Public Affairs at Dublin Chamber, Graeme McQueen, says shoppers have a lot more choice now:
"In terms of the 8th December, it's certainly tailed off in recent years. People all over the country can now shop online and they've probably gotten better shops around them as well - near where they live. Things like Black Friday have changed how we shop as well."
just wish I wasn’t addicted to shopping, especially at Christmas time cause like I’m already broke but pic.twitter.com/g2SFppunEk
