All in favour of 'Europe Day' raise your hand.
It's emerged that the EU have discussed the idea of all employees of EU institutions getting an extra day off in May in the future.
The name of this day? Europe Day.
Which by the way already exists and falls on May 9th, however it's not a bank holiday...yet.
The purpose of the day off would be an attempt to build a stronger European identity among citizens.
Sure, it could be dedicated to Mediterranean monk seals we wouldn't care, as long as it's a day off.
And things get very interesting when you realise that May 9th is only a few days after our own May Bank Holiday. They may as well just give us the whole week off, right?
The idea of the Europe Day bank holiday was discussed in Brussels on Monday and according to Euractiv, and Ivan Jakovčić, a Croatian liberal MEP, said it had "clear support".
"It seems there is clear support from several parliamentary groups such as the Greens, the Socialists and ALDE. Having 9 May as a public holiday is not for the sake of holidays but so that we can show our unity and fight for our values," he said.
Maite Pagazaurtundua, a Spanish liberal MEP, even said "most probably be passed".
It's certainly got our support!
