The long-running soap is an Irish favourite- we can't seem to get enough of it!

The Australian soap, set in the idyllic Summer Bay, has been on our screens since 1988.

Who do Irish people love it so much? The town is laced with stalkers, arsonists, affairs and occasional plane crashes, but us Irish seem to love that daily half an hour sunny escape from our largely rainy island.

Home and Away has it's hot spots and legendary characters: but, where would these scenes be set/ who'd play these characters if the soap was set here?

Here's what we propose....

1.The Diner

How about Moes café in Tramore, Co. Waterford?

2. The beach

We propose the beautiful Strandhill in Co. Sligo

3. The Surf Club

What about Narosa Surf School in Co. Donegal?

4. The River Boys have left the Bay, but who'd be the Brax around town?

It's gotta be Love/ Hate's bad boy, Darren (AKA Robert Sheehan)

5. One of the all-time Home and away legends is Mr. Alf Stewart

But, who'd be worthy of the role?

We reckon Marty Whelan would be the perfect Alf!

6. What about the iconic house? It's been home to several families in the Bay over the years, with Alf Stewart as it's longest resident.

Nothing other than Father Ted's iconic house will do!

7. The Lighthouse

We think Hook Lighthouse in Co. Wexford would be perfect!

8. Marilyn Chambers

Who'd be worthy of playing the part of the blonde bombshell who's been on-and-off set since 1989?

Twink,  of course!
