It's a historic day for pubs across the country, as they open their doors on Good Friday for the first time in over 90 years for a Good Friday booze-up.
The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland (VFI), says removing the ban was about introducing choice, both for the customer and the publican.
“Good Friday will also generate over €7m in VAT and Excise Duty contributions to the Exchequer.”
A ban on alcohol being sold has been in place since 1927. It's thought the removal of the ban will boost the number of tourists coming here over the Easter weekend.
