Hawaii which already proudly boasts some of the toughest laws on cigarette sales in the world is considering to go a step further than any other nation by introducing a ban on cigarette sales which could affect anyone under the age of 100 years old!

The brains behind the ambitious smoking ban

The campaign to raising the smoking age to 100 has been proposed by Richard Creagan - who is a doctor - and he believes that more needs to be done to ban "the deadliest artefact in human history".

Mr Creagan is a Democratic politician in the US state and says cigarettes are "more dangerous than any prescription drug".

His proposals would see the legal age to buy tobacco rise by a decade every year.

Thinking of quitting smoking?

If you are a smoker and are considering quitting, the HSE provides a range of Smoking Cessation Support Services, some in the community and some in hospitals.
