Remember the 1994 Eurovision song contest? Course you do!
We'd all been talking about how great 'Rockn'Roll Kids' was, how we were definitely gonna win again this year, and dad was in the corner giving off about how much it was gonna cost the bloody country to host that feckin' song thing again.
'Then came the interval show and late Gerry Ryan for the first time introduced the world to 'Riverdance.' We sat wide mouthed as Jean Butler owned the stage before our heart rate quickened to the sight of a young unknown Micheal Flatley in a flowing silk blue shirt who with three minutes and a couple of thousand taps of his feet changed the face of Irish dancing forever.. The rest, as they say is history.
If you grew up harbouring the dream of being one of those River Dancers pounding you feet of the floor knowing the with the final tap the audience would eerupt.. We've got some good news for ya...
All those Wednesday evenings in the Parish hall may not have been in vain.. You could be in Riverdance!
