Google's social network, Google Plus has started the process of shutting down and will be completely unavailable by April 2nd.
The site was launched in 2011 to compete with Facebook, but it failed to take off, despite all new Google users automatically gaining a profile when they signed up.

All archived material such as personal photos and videos will be permanently erased after the deadline. Users of the site have already been contacted by Google advising them how to preserve any data they wish to keep.
All other Google services such as Google Drive and Gmail will remain unaffected.
