Killer Orca Whales Spotted off the East Coast

 Last week we brought you the news that sharks were found off the south west coast of Ireland and this week two killer whales have been spotted east of Rockabill, Co Dublin.

The pair were filmed on Saturday by crew on board a fishing vessel.

The incredible footage was caught on camera by James Baxter and shared by the Irish Whale and Dolphin association via Facebook.

In their post they wrote;

Video from yesterday's killer whale encounter 6 miles east of Rockabill, Co. Dublin Sat. 17th Nov. Too early to say with certainty from this clip whether these are as the audio suggests "John Coe" and "Dopey Dick" of the Scottish West Coast Community group of killer whales, but we'll keep you informed here on IWDG if we get photographic evidence that confirms it. Be warned if showing this clip to children, that the language is a little on the rough side and you may be better advised to switch to mute the audio!

Who are these Killer Orca Whales?

The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group says it is trying to establish if the animals were 'John Coe' and 'Dopey Dick' of the Scottish West Coast Community group of killer whales.

The IWDG says it is the second killer whale sighting it has validated since 30 October, when another pair were recorded east of Skerries and travelling north.

Who might be in danger?

The brothers from the Happy Pear would probably be well advised to be aware when they go for their daily swim. As of yet there have been no reported casualties.
