Five Christmas Markets in Ireland worth a visit this year

With just over five-weeks to go until the big day, we've found five different markets you can visit to get yourself into the Christmas mood!

From dazzling colours, to glowing lights, cosy stalls and festive decor - there really is no better way to get your festive juices flowing than attending one of the many Christmas Markets taking place across the country.

Here's a list of the Christmas Markets happening in Ireland this Christmas, starting with Galway...

1. Galway

The 2018 Christmas Market in Galway is open now until December 22nd.

Now in its eighth year in Eyre Sq, it's now firmly established as a feature of the Christmas season.

65% of market participants are local, making it a truly a home-grown Galway event.

2. Waterford Winterval

Winterval the largest Christmas festival in Ireland, hosted annually in Ireland's oldest city... Waterford.

From a Santa experience, to Christmas markets and craft workshops, ice-skating and more, there is so much to see in the city this Christmas and every Christmas.

Winterval runs from November 17th, (tomorrow), until December 23rd with details on Winterval.ie.

3. Dublin Christmas Markets

This is more of your 21st Century hipster Christmas market.

The Dublin Flea Christmas Markets is full of little treasures that'll make the perfect gift or gifts for the special people in your life.

It's up and running from Thursday, December 6th until Sunday December 9th.

And again from Thursday, December 13th to Sunday, December 16th indoors at The Point Square in Dublin 1, the docklands.

4. Strandhill People's Market, Sligo

Because Christmas markets belongs to the people - Viva le Christmas markets!

This year is the fifth year of the Strandhill People's Market in Sligo.

It takes place in the unique venue of Hangar 1 at Sligo Airport in Strandhill, only a few minutes on foot from the beachfront.

Here's when you can check it out:

Sunday 2nd December - 11am-4pm
Sunday 9th December - 11am-4pm
Friday 14th December - 5pm-9pm
Sunday 16th December - 11am-4pm
Friday 21st December -5pm-9pm
Sunday 23rd December - 11am-4pm

5. Dundalk Christmas Market

Food, festive vibes and bespoke handmade Irish gifts, the Dundalk Christmas Market has it all ladies and gents!

In action from November 23rd until December 15th 2018, the Dundalk markets are a must for any festive enthusiast.
